What We Do

The Liberty Education Forum (LEF) is a non-partisan educational and research think-tank based in Washington, DC. LEF's 501(c)3 tax status means all donations and gifts are completely tax deductible. The Liberty Education Forum finds new insights and practical solutions to the challenges facing gay and lesbian Americans. We also educate people about the importance of achieving freedom and fairness for all Americans, regardless of sexual orientation. Liberty forms the foundation of our democratic society. LEF uses the power of ideas to make sure all Americans, regardless of their sexual orientation, can enjoy the unalienable right to liberty. We develop new insights and chart new directions to achieve freedom and fairness for all Americans.

Our non-partisan approach allows us to rise above the political rhetoric that often obscures the search for creative solutions and new ideas. The Liberty Education Forum replaces sound bites with sound insights.

We replace old ideas with a new vision. By finding practical solutions to the challenges confronting gay and lesbian Americans, we help insure that tolerance and inclusion become permanent parts of our democratic society.

The Liberty Education Forum researches and educates on a variety of important issues for gay and lesbian Americans. LEF is a powerful voice in the search for improved strategies to battle HIV/AIDS. We support and organize roundtable discussions around the nation aimed at improving our approach for battling this disease. LEF educates people about the importance of having more effective prevention programs and better health care strategies to treat those living with HIV/AIDS.

We also work to support research and educate people about the importance of ending the military's Don't Ask, Don't Tell policy. This discriminatory policy damages our nation's military readiness and weakens national defense.

Our tax code too often harms American families and American businesses. LEF educates people about discriminatory tax policies that burden gay and lesbian families. We also lead the way in providing research about the death tax which harms the economy, hurts small businesses, and penalizes success.

The Liberty Education Forum also provides research and insights about the difficult issues facing gay and lesbian families. It's important for government to provide this segment of our population with the same protection afforded to other American families.

LEF also educates people about the importance of defending our Constitution from those who want to write discrimination into the nation's founding charter.
